Latics welcome back Sheridan - March 9, 2001

Former Republic of Ireland playmaker John Sheridan passed a fitness test on his injured calf this morning and has joined the Oldham squad for tomorrow's crunch game against second-placed Rotherham.

The 36-year-old shipped the injury against Bournemouth a fortnight ago. Since then Oldham have played twice, losing both games - 2-0 to Cambridge and 3-0 to Swindon.

Sheridan had been bang on form before the injury, scoring three goals in his previous seven games and manager Andy Ritchie - who rescued the 34-cap international from non-league obscurity at Doncaster in 1998 - will be hoping the Manchester-born midfielder recovers his touch instantly against the high-flying Millers.
