Evergreen Sheridan linked with Cardiff - January 3, 2001
Former Republic of Ireland great John Sheridan is being linked with a move to third-division high-flyers Cardiff City.
The 36-year-old midfielder, who has had to sit out most of the season due to injury, returned to the Oldham first team in the middle of December and since then his sterling performances in midfield have pushed the Latics away from the relegation zone in the second division.
If the move goes ahead, Cardiff will become John's 10th club in his career. He started out with Manchester City nearly 20 years ago and was a member of the Irish squads in the three major championship finals for which they qualified.
He dropped out of league football for a while when he joined Doncaster Rovers but Oldham quickly recognised that he still had something to offer and they snapped him up.
In other Oldham news, Barry Prenderville is close to full fitness and should be soon figuring for the reserve side. Barry had been out of action since September and got a reaction to his injury when he returned to action on December 10 against Peterborough in the FA Cup.
