Now Kenna wants away - January 11, 2001
Senior international full back Jeff Kenna is the latest Irish player to be shown the door at Ewood Park - and he can't get away quickly enough, despite Blackburn moving into promotion contention last night.
Kenna (31) has been placed on the transfer list with a price tag of £500,000 - but the Irishman believes he may be trapped at Ewood until the end of the season because of the current lack of activity in the transfer market.
"There have been a few enquiries but no firm offers," Kenna said. "I'd like to think that I can get away before the March transfer deadline, but there seems to very little happening on the market."
Kenna was an unused sub last night, as Blackburn beat Preston 3-2 to move to third place in the division one table. Only two of Blackburn's large Irish contingent played any active part in the game - Alan Mahon coming on as a substitute for Irish international colleague Damien Duff.
