Gannon working his way back to fitness - October 27, 2000

Stockport's Jim Gannon could be back in action within a month. Jim, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury last season, is back doing light training - to the delight of manager Andy Kilner.

Gannon is in his testimonial year at Edgeley Park and would provide a massive boost for the club if he could get back to fitness.

Stockport face an uphill battle to keep hold of their division-one status because they have one of the weaker teams in the league.

The Irishman joined the team on the pitch last Saturday before the Bolton game and had a light workout.

It would be useful if he could regain his fitness because he is equally at home in the defence or midfield.

The 32-year-old is a firm favourite with the fans and they showed their appreciation by turning up in droves for his testimonial game against Manchester City.
