Andrews sets comeback date - March 13, 2001
Irish defender John Andrews plays for Mansfield Town's reserves against Bury today, hoping to convince manager Billy Dearden that his injury woes are behind him.
The Cork-born 22-year-old has been sidelined since early December - but with two reserve matches already under his belt, Andrews is hoping to put himself in the frame for Saturday's trip to Blackpool.
The former Coventry City man will be helped by the fact that Stuart Hicks and Adam Barrett - the club's only other two recognised central defenders - were unable to train yesterday because of injury.
If the Irishman fails to convince, Dearden will look to make a loan signing before next week's transfer deadline.
