Keely forced into more changes - November
1, 2000 After calling up a raft of replacements yesterday for tonight's Interleague game against the Irish League (Terryland, 19:30), Eircom National League manager Dermot Keely has been forced into further changes. Shelbourne's Pat Scully fell victim to 'flu and has been replaced by Derry's Darren Kelly. Keely also has a concern over Pat Fenlon, who is struggling with a calf strain. Keely had already been forced to replace the Bohemians contingent - Kevin Hunt, Shaun Maher, Glen Crowe and Simon Webb - after a row with Bohs manager Roddy Collins. Damien Richardson also pulled the two Shamrock Rovers representatives, Derek Tracey and Brian Byrne. Derry's Eamonn Doherty, Finn Harps' Jonathon Minnock, Jason Byrne of Bray Wanderers and UCD duo Barry Ryan and Ciaran Kavanagh were Keely's choices as cover. Irish League manager David Jeffrey has his problems too. Five of his players have cried off and have been replaced by ex-Shel Mark Rutherford (Newry), Chris Walker and Justin McBride (Glentoran), Darren Murphy (Glenavon) and Chris Morgan (Linfield). Keely has a score to settle with Jeffrey - the Northern manager scored a crucial goal at Milltown to knock Keely's Shamrock Rovers out of the European Cup in 1984!
