Holland set for a scan - September 12, 2000 In a bid to get back to full fitness, Ipswich captain Matt Holland is to have a scan on his ankle to see exactly what is the problem with it. The injury made him miss Ireland's match in Holland and has made him doubtful for Ipswich's last two games. He did play in those, but not up to his usual business-like standard. Holland is planning to get a scan on the injury to see if a short rest would be of any benefit to him. He suffered the injury in the second game of the season against Manchester United at Portman Road and since then has battled through the pain barrier to play. Holland said: "It is still swollen and I'm not able to train between games, which is not good. I feel I am losing my sharpness, so I will take time to treat it properly, even if that means missing a game." The skipper hasn't missed a single competitive game for the Blues since his £800,000 signing from Bournemouth in the summer of 1997 - but he accepts that you cannot play through injuries at the top level. |
