Harps take it out on Farm - January 8, 2001

Home Farm 0 Finn Harps 3

Harps have had a bad week at the office and they took it all out on the hapless amateurs of Home Farm yesterday.

It finished 3-0 but it could easily have been more, but for bad luck in front of goal. Caretaker manager Jonathan Speake picked himself up front alongside young Kevin McHugh and the new-look strike force caused all sorts of problems for Farm with their willingness to run and switch.

Winger Paddy McGrenaghan sent in a string off good crosses which Harps should have made more of - and the first-half corner count was ten to one in the visitors' favour.

Harps' opener came from just such a McGrenaghan cross, headed powerfully home by Dom Tierney on 25 minutes.

The second didn't come until the 73rd and it was all the work of full back Jon Minnock. He ran the entire length of the field before driving the ball hard across the face of the Home Farm goal, where defender Stephen Kenny turned the ball into his own net.

A minute from time, Fergal Harkin's side-footed effort put a more realistic look on the scoreline.
