Heary's misfortune - July 20, 2000

When things are going well, something always comes along and ruins it. Ask Thomas Heary!

The Irish youngster was lambasted last season by Huddersfield manager Steve Bruce for returning to training overweight. His future was unsure and he didn't figure in the first team until the second-last game of the season.

This year he returned for pre-season in top shape. This impressed manager Bruce and he rewarded the 21-year-old with the right-back position for pre-season but halfway through a game against Livingston he was kicked in the shins and had to be replaced early in the second half because of soreness.

Just as he was impressing his manager he is sidelined, which is rotten luck. He now must hope that the injury is not serious or he could become a forgotten man again.
