Harps slump to second defeat - August 19, 2000

Finn Harps 0 Cork City 1

Finn Harps made all the early running but wound up slumping to their second defeat of the league season.

The home side should have taken the lead on the stroke of half time when Paddy McGrenaghan's shot beat 'keeper Noel Mooney but was taken off the line by Stephen Napier.

They almost paid the penalty three minutes later when Ollie Cahill brought a great save out of Gareth Downey - but just three minutes more had elapsed when Colin O'Brien scored what proved to be the winner.

John Caulfield beat Declan Boyle and his cross left O'Brien with the easiest of chances.

Harps' reaction was instant, but Noel Mooney managed to get a fingertip to James Mulligan's powerful header.

The home team pressed till the end but couldn't break City down.
