Mooney back to save Cork - February 12,
2001
Finn Harps 1 Cork City 1
Harps will look on this as another two points that slipped away - and they can lay most of the blame on Cork 'keeper Noel Mooney, who frustrated them with a string of second-half saves.
Mooney has been out of the limelight since the arrival of record buy Michael Devine from Waterford back in October. But on Saturday he replaced the injured Devine six minutes before the break and certainly made up for lost time.
Harps old-boy James Mulligan helped put Cork ahead in the 22nd minute. Mulligan's shot was blocked by Shane Bradley but Colin O'Brien drilled home the rebound.
But it was all Harps after that. New boy James Marrow shot narrowly wide just two minutes later and John Kenny missed a gimme eight minutes further on.
There was nothing Mooney could do about Harps equaliser, ten minutes after the break. Jon Minock pumped in a cross and Kevin McHugh caught it perfectly on the volley.
But the 'keeper raced from his line to deny McHugh in the 78th minute and then made a superb reaction save to foil John Kenny.
