Harps off the bottom - October 15, 2000 Finn Harps 1 Bray Wanderers 0 Finn Harps lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with a win against shot-shy Bray Wanderers in Ballybofey. Bray carved out half a dozen second-half chances but couldn't make them count and Harps held out for their first home win of the league season. The home side should have taken the lead in the very first minute when Kemalj Avdiu was dumped over in the box by Matt Britton. But Eddie Van Boxtel made a great stop from Paddy McGrangahan's spot kick. Two minutes before half time, however, Harps did take the lead - a Jonathan Minnock long throw-in landing on the head of Shane Bradley, who steered it past Van Boxtel. Bray upped the ante in the second half but home 'keeper Gareth Downey was in man-of-the-match form. That and poor shooting - notably from Barry O'Connor - conspired to keep the Harps goal intact.
