Bohs let points slip - February 22,
2001
Finn Harps 1 Bohemians 1
We sure called this one right: Finn Harps made it four straight draws on the trot in the Eircom League and, in doing so, probably wrecked Bohemians' hopes of catching leaders Shelbourne.
Before the game, Bohs were nine points behind Shels with two games in hand. Now it's eight points, with just one game to spare. The Gypsies have go to look on it as two points lost - even though things could certainly have been much worse.
It was Harps who dominated the first hour and Bohemians should have been dead and buried before Glen Crowe lobbed in an equaliser on 65 minutes. Crowe and goalkeeper Wayne Russell were the difference between the sides as Harps failed to exploit a catalogue of chances.
Kevin McHugh missed the first one on the half hour, before new-boy James Marrow headed Harps into the lead eight minutes before half time.
Then Russell made a point-blank reaction stop from McHugh four minutes into the second half, before saving again from Paddy McGrenaghan ten minutes later.
Crowe's goal changed things though and the visitors shaded the last half hour. Crowe should have scored again on 79 minutes when he went around 'keeper Gareth Downey but shot into the side-netting. And in the closing minutes the Gypsies forced five corners in a row as they desperately sought the win they needed.
In between, though, Russell was busy again, saving from McHugh, Fergal Harkin and Alan Dodds.
There was another blow to Bohs' title aspirations when injury-prone winger Dave Morrison hobbled off after just seven minutes.
