Birr's Stephen Grant is making a name for himself in the A-League in America. Grant lost favour at Stockport County so he decided to try his hand in America and things have gone as well as could be expected for the 23-year-old.

He was even named player of the week in the A-League after scoring four goals in two games for his team, Boston Bulldogs. He scored a four-minute hat-trick against the Long Island Rough Riders and then followed that up with the winning goal against Montreal three days later.

Grant has been joined at the Boston Bulldogs by Bohemians defender Avery John and veteran Steve Nicol who is an Anfield legend.

The standard of football might not be the best in the A-League in America but if Grant keeps playing as he is the Bulldogs will be playing in the Major League next season.
