Kelly set for Leeds return - March 2, 2001
Republic of Ireland international full back Gary Kelly resumed full training with Leeds United this week and could figure against Manchester United tomorrow.
Kelly has recovered quicker than expected from the groin operation which saw him miss all of February - good news for Leeds, who resume their Champions League campaign against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Danny Mills is suspended for that match and Kelly is the ready-made replacement.
It's also good news for Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy, who yesterday learned that he will be without Tottenham's Steve Carr for the World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Andorra this month and possibly for the return game against Andorra in April.
With Fulham's Steve Finnan and Wimbledon's versatile Kenny Cunningham in the squad, Kelly's return to fitness means that the right back position is amply covered, despite the loss of Carr.
