Barrett becomes a Rover for a month - December 15, 2000

Arsenal midfielder/striker Graham Barrett has been loaned out to Second Division Bristol Rovers for a month.

The Irish underage international has been the subject of a lot of interest from the lower leagues since the new season started and it was only a matter of time before he was farmed out to get first-team football.

Graham is way down in the pecking order for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, with the likes of Thierry Henry, Kanu, Bergkamp and Wiltord all in front of him in the queue.

Bournemouth tried and failed to get the young Dubliner on loan a couple of months ago because Wenger wanted to hold onto him because of injuries - but now that all his top players are fit Wenger decided the time was right for Barrett to get some experience.

Graham wont get an easy ride at Bristol Rovers because their form is a bit erratic. When they are able to field a full-strength team they are a match for anybody in the division - but even one injury and they're pushovers.
