O'Driscoll ready to give Gareth his chance - October 11, 2000

Gareth O'Connor has taken a while to settle in at Bournemouth since his summer move from Bohemians but he is now beginning to make his mark and as a reward he could start his first league game at the weekend.

The winger has been used as sub six times by former Irish international Sean O'Driscoll and it looks as if the Bournemouth manager now feels that Gareth is ready for a full 90 minutes of division-two football.

O'Connor came off the bench at the weekend and earned his side a 3-3 draw with his last-minute strike against Bristol City. His goal was excellent and his celebration was as good, as sheer excitement ran across his face.

Gareth was a thorn in the side of many an Eircom League side last season and with a good run in the first team at Bournemouth he should prove himself across the water. He is a very tricky wide player who knows his way to goal.
