Griffin joins Supersaints - September 8, 2000 St. Patrick's Athletic boss Pat Dolan yesterday completed the signing of former UCD and Waterford United player Robbie Griffin. The 27-year-old left-sided player is expected to join the squad for the trip to Terryland Park for the league game against Galway tonight. Robbie spent eight years at UCD and two in his home town of Waterford before being released by the Blues in the summer and is 'up for the challenge' at Richmond Park. He said: "I'm delighted to be joining such a professional set-up and the quality of people in the team and around the club in general has really impressed me." Robbie can only hope for a place on the bench for tonight's game because of the form of Padraig Drew. Pat's have plenty of problems before tonight's game. Stephen McGuinness is suspended while Packie Lynch is injured. Jamie Harris, who was substituted with concussion against Shels last week, and Martin Russell are both doubtful. Galway are without Billy Clery. The player has been banned by the club for refusing to pay a fine that was imposed on him over a disciplinary matter. Manager Don O'Riordan is looking for some consistency from his team after their up and down season. They got back to winning ways on the road last weekend after losing to both Kilkenny and Bohemians before that. O'Riordan said: "Hopefully you'll start to see a more consistent side. We can take a lot of pride from our performance last week, but for our face to fit in this league we have to start getting clean sheets." |
