Galway could go top - October 13, 2000

Galway United could go top of the Eircom Premier league tonight if they can beat leaders Shelbourne at Terryland (19:45 BST).

United were the only team Shels failed to beat on their way to the title last season - and the Reds' cause won't be helped by the fact that their squad has been depleted by a virus.

Shelbourne boss Dermot Keely will leave it until just before the game to name his side, once he sees how the players are feeling after their trip west.

Don O'Riordan's only doubt is Kieran Foley (shoulder) - and the Galway boss hopes to introduce new signing  Llewellyn Riley to the Terryland crowd at half time.

The Barbadan striker - Eric Lavine's international partner - is due to arrive in Galway today and hopes ot go straight into the side next week.
