Harps need your help- October 17, 2000

It is time for Eircom League fans to stand up and be counted once more. They did it for Derry City and now the famous club is out of trouble. But as things begin to run smooth for them, near neighbours Finn Harps are just about out of business.

The in-crisis Donegal club are under serious pressure. They are over £350,000 in debt and the Revenue Commissioners are looking for a £150,000 outstanding tax bill to be paid straight away. They club do not have this kind of money and are calling on people of the area and the country to help them.

They are holding a public meeting at the Villa Rose Hotel on Main Street in Ballybofey on Thursday night at 8:00pm and are hoping for the support of the local community.

"Anybody with an interest in keeping Eircom League football alive in Donegal is asked to attend and row in behind the club," said Finn Harps director Derek Wilkinson. "We will listen to our supporters and then hold a board meeting on Sunday to outline our plans to ensure the club survives."
