Finnan happy at Fulham - July 26, 2000

Republic of Ireland international Steve Finnan has quashed all rumours about leaving Fulham by pledging his future to the club.

There has been a lot of speculation over the summer about Finnan moving. He has been linked with a number of Premiership clubs including a £2m move to Leicester City - but now he says he has no intention of leaving Craven Cottage because he is enjoying the training under new manager Jean Tigana too much.

Finnan said: "I signed a new contract last season and I'm happy at Fulham. I don't want to go and that's all there is to it. I'm enjoying training and the approach of the new manager. So far everything is fine."

Former Fulham manager Kevin Keegan brought 24-year-old Finnan to Craven Cottage from Notts County for £600,000 in 1998. He made his Republic of Ireland debut against Greece last April.
