Late double sinks Farm - August 16, 2000 Home Farm Fingal 1 Athlone Town 2 Home Farm looked set for an unlikely victory against Athlone Town at Whitehall last night but two late goals robbed them of the points. In an entertaining encounter, Farm found themselves reduced to ten men after only 32 minutes of the game when Paul Crowley got his marching orders. They still gave as good as they got, even with the man disadvantage, and took what looked like a winning lead in the 73rd minute when Aaron Lynch netted from the penalty spot. But Athlone were not finished and they hit back through Andy Myler in the 81st minute to set up a grandstand finish. The extra man was precious in the final minutes and, as Athlone attacked in waves trying to get all three points, Home Farm moved into a rearguard action. And half-time substitute Stephen Mullan had the last say in the game with the winning goal in the 90th minute. The defender blindsided the Home Farm defence before burying the ball in the back if the net.
