Bohs pair in contention for League Player of the Year- October 26, 2000

Shelbourne's Pat Fenlon will be hoping that his League and Cup double win will carry the day and help him win the Eircom League Player of the Year ahead of Bohs pair Kevin Hunt and Glen Crowe but it is doubtful that this will happen.

Fenlon is a great player with a good team but Hunt and Crowe have made their marks on the domestic scene over the last 12 months.

Eyebrows were raised when Roddy Collins bought English-born Hunt but the decision has proved to be a shrewd one.

The 25-year-old midfielder has had a great attitude to the game in Ireland, so much so that Collins made him club captain. If he could sort out his crossing, his game would be even better because in all other departments there are no.

But the likely winner of the award is Glen Crowe. The former Wolves striker has been a sensation so far this season.

At this early stage he has scored a massive 18 goals, scoring in eight successive games, which has led Bohemians to the top of the league.

He showed during Bohs' European campaign that he can score against better opposition hitting the back of the net against Aberdeen and Kaiserslatern home and away and this should swing the award in his favour.
