Eircom Park Crisis - August 1, 2000 A meeting took place at FAI headquarters in Merrion Square, Dublin last night, to discuss the financing of the of the Eircom Park Stadium. The management Committee of the 22 Eircom league teams met for almost four hours to consider the options. No conclusions were made, and now FAI Chief Executive Bernard O'Byrne has been given one week to sort out how the project should be financed. O'Byrne was at the meeting last night, staying for close to two hours. But his ideas suggested to his delegates were not accepted. Further information is now needed from O'Byrne if the establishment of the Park is to be considered. One delegate at the meeting said "No votes were taken, but further questions have to be answered, and clarification required" «back to eircom league stories |
