Derry chairman dies in road accident - July 28, 2000
Shock news filtered through last night of the death of Derry City chairman Kevin Friel. The 48-year-old was killed in a road accident in Co. Donegal. He leaves behind a wife and five children.

The history books will say that Shelbourne lost 3-1 at home in the second qualifying round of the Champions League against crack Norwegian outfit Rosenborg but they wont be able to tell the whole story because even though they lost they still restored pride in National League football.
