Dundalk hit Saints for seven - December 15, 2000

Dundalk 7 St. Francis 0

Bottom-of-the-league St. Francis heard they were a couple of goals down, somehwere between Dundalk railway station and Oriel Park! Well, not quite - but they WERE 3-0 in arrears after just 13 minutes of his one-sided division one encounter.

Dundalk closed the gap on leaders Athlone to six points - and didn't do their goal difference any harm, either!

Anto Reilly started the rout after eleven minutes and John Flanagan and Martin Reilly followed suit within two minutes.

By half time, the Saints were 5-0 down after Donal Broughan and Tommy Byrne had found the range and things didn't improve much after the break.

Anto Reilly bagged his second and when substitute David Ward made it seven, Dundalk had visions of equalling their record 9-0 win against Shelbourne.
