Dundalk make Bohs work for win- September 26, 2000

Dundalk 1 Bohemians 2

After Bohemians' historic success in Germany last week against Kaiserslautern in the UEFA Cup the Dublin club were expected to dispatch Dundalk with ease in their first Eircom League Cup game last night but that was not the case.

The Division One side put up a spirited display against the more illustrious visitors and can count themselves unlucky not to have earned a share of the spoils.

Bohemians got off to a flyer when goal-machine Glen Crowe stroked the ball home after only three minutes - but the expected one-way traffic never materialised as Dundalk never accepted the inevitable and kept the Premier side on the back foot.

They got just reward for their endeavours when Anto Reilly equalised after 27 minutes of the second period. But the ever-dangerous Crowe had the last say when he scored his eight goal of the season on 79 minutes to seal a Bohs win.

The defeat, coupled with their loss against Home Farm Fingal, means that Dundalk are out of the League Cup. But who will win Group 3 is still open to debate until Bohs play the Farm next week.
