Donnolly faces knee op - January 5, 2001
Former Irish u18 star Paul Donnolly will see a top specialist this week in a bid to end 15 months of injury agony.
The St. Pat's midfielder has been sidelined with a knee injury incurred against Galway United at the tail end of last season - shortly after he joined the Saints from Leeds United.
Donnolly admits he is not sure whether anything can be done to save his career.
"You have to keep a positive frame of mind - otherwise you would go mad. It's got the stage where I'm struggling at the moment and I don't know what else to do."
Donnolly was a member of the Irish u18 team which won the European Championships in Cyprus in 1998. But he was surprisingly released by Leeds the same summer.
