Irwin expects three more years at Old Trafford - July 22, 2000

Former Republic of Ireland great Denis Irwin expects to playing for Manchester United for at least three more years. Irwin, who will be 35 in October and has been at Old Trafford for the last ten years, believes he has a few more campaigns left in the tank.

Denis signed a 12-month deal at the end of last season and claims his target for the next campaign is to secure another extension.

"I've never looked on a season as possibly being my last," said Irwin. "My aim is to get another United contract after this one. It's the press who seem to keep saying this is my last year.

"They've been saying that for a while because I have signed 12-month contracts for the last three seasons. But each time my target was to win more medals and earn a new deal and I keep doing that. I aim to do it again."
