Derry win north-east Derby - October 1, 2000 Derry City 3 Finn Harps 1 Under pressure Harps manager Gavin Dykes admitted he could soon be looking for another job after this latest defeat for his side. The Ballybofey outfit actually took the lead in the 28th minute, courtesy of their lethal foreign strike force. Alex Nesovic intercepted a Darren Kelly backpass and Kemalj Avdiu pounded to steer Nesovic's cross-cum-shot into the net. It took Derry until the 44th minute to get back on terms - Kelly heading the ball forward and Gary Beckett flicking it on for Paddy McLaughlin to shoot home. Ten minute after the restart the Candystripes went ahead, Beckett's deflected header squeezing past Gareth Downey. Eamonn Doherty killed off the game with 12 minutes to go after excellent play by Liam Coyle. Coyle controlled a Connolly kick-out and wrong-footed the Harps defence with a back-heel to Gary Beckett, who had no problem playing Doherty in.
