Duff: I'm happy here - March 7, 2001

Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff has quashed transfer rumours by insisting he is happy to stay at Blackburn Rovers.

Premiership big boys Newcastle and Sunderland have been chasing the Ballyboden-born 22-year-old but have been sent packing by Blackburn boss Graeme Souness.

And now Duff himself says: "I'm happy to stay put."

Duff, who faces an FA Cup fifth-round tussle with Bolton tonight, with a quarter-final against Arsenal as the prize, said: "When there was all that talk of Newcastle being interested, the gaffer pulled me aside and told me I was going nowhere.

"I thought to myself 'That'll do me'! This club has been good for me and I'm content with things here. We're on a roll and while we know that a win tonight will lead to Arsenal and a big day out, everyone is aware that the Premiership is the place to be.

"Hopefully we'll get back up."
