Duff makes satisfactory return - November 22, 2000
Ireland winger Damien Duff returned to action last night for Blackburn's reserve team after over a month out with a torn hamstring and the wing wizard came through an hour of play without any problems.
Duff even set up the goal of the game when he picked out Keith Gillespie with a brilliant through ball for the Northern Irish international to score.
Duff is the only Irish player who is in favour at Ewood Park and he could be back in the first team by the weekend if he suffers no ill effects from his efforts last night.
Actually Rovers' reserve team last night was like a who's who of Irish football. Alan Kelly was in goal with Jeff Kenna ahead of him in defence.
Jonathan Douglas also started alongside Duff and when Duff was replaced Paul Forsyth took his place.
