Doyle makes first-class debut - January 24, 2001

Dubliner Daire Doyle made his first-class debut for Kidderminster Harriers against Mansfield last night - and, even though Kidderminster lost, manager Jan Molby was more than happy with what he saw.

Molby signed the 20-year-old former Cherry Orchard star from Coventry a couple of weeks ago and gave him his first taste of league football in a midfield role last night.

Molby said: "Daire gave us something different last night. His movement and work rate was good but he tired towards the end - which is what we expected anyway.

"Moving up from reserve-team football to the rigours of this division will be difficult but I think he is more than capable of doing it. We have until the end of the season to monitor his progression but the signs are good."
