Daly scores first senior goal - July 21, 2000

It has not taken Jon Daly long to make his mark with Stockport County. The rising star scored his first senior goal for his club to help them to a 2-0 pre-season victory over Swedish side Landskrona in the club's five-match tour of Scandinavia.

The 17-year-old Irish underage international showed composure above his years when he gathered a long ball from Brian Carrigan and lobbed the advancing Landskrona goalkeeper to wrap up Stockport's second tour win.

In other pre-season news, Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Alan Quinn suffered a knock on his ankle in his team's pre-season win against Stevenage Borough.

The injury is not thought to be that serious and the Ireland u21 international should be fit to face Wolves in Wednesday's opening game of the new season on August 13.

John Aldridge laced up his boots again last night for Tranmere's second string against Unibond League side Runcorn. The ancient Aldridge played the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw.
