Molby's bid to sign Doyle fails - October 3, 2000 Kidderminster Harriers boss Jan Molby has failed in his attempt to sign 19-year-old Dubliner Daire Doyle. Coventry City's Doyle was on trial at the club over the last couple of weeks and impressed the former Liverpool great with his form - but a bid to sign him failed simply because of money. Daire scored a hat trick for the Kidderminster reserves last week - not a bad return from a midfielder. Molby knew that and contacted Coventry in a bid to sign him. It seems Coventry and Molby agreed a deal but the stumbling block came with Doyle's wage demands. Molby said: "It's looking dead. We had hoped to do something, but we're not going to pursue it now."
