Coyle playing for Dunfermline u21s - September 27, 2000

Veteran striker Owen Coyle played for the Dunfermline u21 side against Hibernian last night even though he is a young 34-year-old. Coyle is transfer listed by the Scottish Premier club and he will be delighted with a move if they keep playing him in the u21 side.

It is a bit of a cheek asking a player who has played over 15 years in the top flight and also been capped once for Ireland to play in a no-interest game, risking an injury which at his age could end his career.

Coyle is one of the highest-paid players at Dunfermline and it looks like his drop to the u21 team is a ploy by the management to force him out of his own accord.

He gave them their answer in no uncertain terms by scoring the second goal in a 2-0 win against Hibernian. The striker had been linked with Scottish Division One side Livingston and English Third Division Carlisle but as yet nothing has happened.
