Coventry takeover by Jordan rumoured - November 24, 2000
Coventry City fan Eddie Jordan is rumoured to be ready to make a bid for his favourite club - but Sky Blues chairman Bryan Richardson has dismissed the idea as nonsense.
Irishman Jordan has made his millions in Formula 1 but he has never hidden the fact that he loves football as much as motor racing. He is a regular at Highfield Road and was outspokenly critical when the Coventry board sold Robbie Keane to Inter Milan.
But Richardson, who holds a majority share in the club, says he knows nothing of Jordan's interest in buying the club.
He said: "It is absolute news to me and I would have thought it would be highly unlikely. I see a lot of Eddie and it has never once been a topic of conversation between us."
