Coughlan Cork-bound? - August 4, 2000

Derek Coughlan will return to Ireland today with the hope that he will re-join his former team, Cork City.

The 23-year-old has been on trial at Luton for the past few days, and played a part in the side's 1-0 win over Hull in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

Luton has asked him to play another game next week, but Coughlan is opting to come back to Cork City, under new boss, Derek Mountfield.

Before he headed to Luton, former Cork boss Colin Murphy offered Coughlan a new contract, but at the time, he was going for a career in England.

Now his plan is to hook back up with his old side as quickly as he can.
