Cork and Bray keep unbeaten records - August 28, 2000 Cork City 0 Bray Wanderers 0 Bray Wanderers travelled to Turner's Cross on Sunday sharing a 100% return from their league endeavours with Cork City and it came as no surprise that both teams finished the game with unbeaten records intact as they played out an uninspiring scoreless draw. There was some fire in the match but it did not come from the football. Instead, it came from fourth official Alan Kelly who was instrumental in both teams playing the last 38 minutes of the game with 10 men. Cork's Colin O'Brien and Bray's Maurice Farrell were involved in a collision which didn't look that serious but fourth official Kelly called the referee Dick O'Hanlon aside and informed him that both players should be sent off - and the referee obliged. "The linesman missed it, the referee missed it but the fourth official didn't. I'm not saying that the referee missed much today but he's just after missing his bus as well!" said City manager Derek Mountfield. "I don't want to get too involved in commenting on the performance of the officials but I have seen better games from match officials. I don't think it is too harsh to say that it was a poor performance from them today." The game itself did not live up to its top-of-the-table billing. Both teams struggled to control the ball throughout and neither really looked like scoring. When they did get a chance both goalkeepers seemed always well placed to snuff out the danger - never more so than in the last minute when Bray broke, through Jason Byrne. The Bray striker found himself one-on-one with Noel Mooney but his shot rebounded off the goalkeeper's legs and away to safety.
