Cork go goal crazy! - October 9, 2000 Cork City 2 UCD 1 Cork City fought back from a goal down to beat UCD at Turner's Cross on Sunday, scoring their first goals since the start of last month in the process. With only three league goals all season Cork's 2-1 win was a bit of a goal-feast for the home fans! Yet it wasn't two Cork players who scored - instead their first goal came from the opposition. UCD took the lead three minutes before half time when former Manchester United starlet Kevin Grogan kept up his great form since joining the Students. He raced onto an Eoin Bennis pass to find himself clear of the Cork defence and coolly slotted the ball home from just inside the box. UCD will count themselves unlucky to have conceded their first goal. Pat Morley's header was well saved by goalkeeper Barry Ryan but the ball rebounded off the back of defender Alan Mahon and trickled over the line. There was no doubting that the Cork winner came from a home player though. Cork won a free kick in a central position and the quick thinking of new signing Steve Gaughan saw the ball reach Ollie Cahill in acres of space out on the left. Cahill hit a tremendous cross into the danger area and the ancient Pat Morley jumped highest to head the ball into the back of the net.
