Cork confident they can turn tie around - August 24, 2000

Cork City go into the second leg of the UEFA Cup qualifying round tonight at Turner's Cross against Swiss side Lausanne confident that they will be able to turn around the one-goal deficit from the first leg.

Cork know the task they face but manager Derek Mountfield feels his squad is up to the challenge. He has warned them to keep the game tight for the first 15 minutes, not conceding a goal, and then take the game to the visitors and go on from there.

"We've had two good results in the league since the first game and confidence is high. As long as we keep our heads and keep it scoreless for fifteen minutes, why shouldn't we win the game?", Mountfield asked.

The Leesiders were unlucky in the first leg and they will be hoping the luck will be on their side tonight. There should be a huge crowd at Turner's which nearly counts as an extra man.

Full-back Greg O'Halloran should return after serving a two-match ban - which will mean a place on the bench for understudy Neal Horgan.
