Jordanstown meet DIT in Collingwood final - February 23, 2001

University of Ulster Jordanstown and Dublin Institute of Technology will meet this afternoon with the 81st Collingwood Cup at stake.

Holders University College Cork - eliminated when they could only finish second behind UUJ in their group - had the consolation of contesting the Plate final this morning against University of Limerick.

In yesterday's Cup semi-finals, pre-tournament favourites UCD - with the likes of Eircom League players Robert Martin, David Quinn and former Brighton player Darragh Ryan in their squad - fell to a late winner by UUJ's Russell Kerr, after Robert Martin had equalised Gareth Liggett's opener.

DIT won their way through to the final - for the first time ever - by beating Trinity College 3-0, thanks to a Conor Ryan hat trick.

In the Plate semi-finals University of Limerick beat NUI Galway 3-0 and UCC beat University of Ulster Coleraine 2-1.
