McMahon is Cobh boss - November 30, 2000
Cobh Ramblers have turned to a former manager to guide them through the rest of the season. Liam McMahon returns to St. Colman's for his third stint in charge, replacing John O'Rourke who quit last month.
"I have gone back because the Board approached me about the position and because I have a love for the club and if I have anything to give to Cobh Ramblers Football club I will," McMahon said.
McMahon was in charge, as player manager, when Cobh - then a non-League side - reached the 1983 FAI Cup semi-finals and played a marathon four-match tie with Sligo Rovers before bowing out.
McMahon ended that spell by transferring to Limerick as a player, but he returned to manage Cobh in both the first and premier divisions after they were elected to the League.
His last involvement with Cobh was as assistant manager to Stewart Ashton - the current chairman who was John O'Rourke's predecessor as manager.
McMahon can expect a baptism of fire when Cobh host high-flying Dundalk this Sunday.
