Cats chairman steps down - June 22, 2000

Kilkenny City chairman Tom Cantwell has stepped down from the board after fifteen years as a Buckley Park director.

Cantwell, the principal of a thriving tyre company, first became involved with the club as sponsor, back in the days when the club was still called EmFa.

He was elected to the board in 1985, the year EmFa joined the League of Ireland, and has been an ever-present since, holding the chair on several occasions.

He presided over the club's development of their own grounds at Buckley Park - now deemed good enough to host u21 international matches - and he has twice seen the former Junior club promoted to the National League Premier Division.
