Barry Roche could play first-team football with Nottingham Forest quicker than he ever dreamed.

Roche was named by manager David Platt as reserve to Dave Beasant for the coming season but the veteran goalkeeper is struggling to be fit for the opening game of the season on Saturday against West Brom - which could give Roche his chance.

Beasant picked up an injury in last Saturday's final pre-season game against Port Vale and when Roche replaced him he immediately conceded a penalty and then saved it!

David Platt apparently has no qualms about giving 18-year-old Roche his league bow against Albion, despite the fact the Irishman has no experience of League football.
