Bray fight back to go third - January 13, 2001
Bray Wanderers 3 Longford Town 1
Bray went behind to a first-half Eric Smith goal but fought their way back for a convincing win to leapfrog Shamrock Rovers into third place in the table.
Bray made most of the early running but the Seasiders' defence went asleep for the opening goal after 34 minutes, allowing both Niall Byrne and Keith O'Connor to add to Wes Charles' free kick before Eric Smith volleyed home from six yards.
The introduction of Kieran O'Brien after 63 minutes made a difference for Bray and he had only been on the pitch two minutes when he won a penalty which Eddie Gormley powered home.
Twelve minutes later Colm Tresson's backheel made space for Philip Keogh and his cross got the perfect response from the head of Paul Keegan. Jason Byrne got in on the act with nine minutes left, heading home Gormley's corner at the near post.
