Bohs march on in League Cup - October 5, 2000

Bohemians 4 Home Farm Fingal 0

Even without established stars like Stephen Caffrey, Dave Hill and Kevin Hunt, Bohemians still proved far too strong for Home Farm Fingal last night and duly marched into the last eight of the Eircom League Cup with a resounding 4-0 win.

With players like young striker Gary O'Neill to bring in, Bohemians just had too much strength in depth for the first division outfit - and it took O'Neill just 16 minutes to emphasise the point, when he grabbed the opener after a humdrum start.

O'Neill pounced from the edge of the box after Glen Crowe's shot had been smothered and half cleared - and Crowe himself got in on the act on 39 minutes with his 13th goal of the season.

The two combined again eleven minutes into the second period, when Crowe's backheel set up O'Neill for his second and Bohs' third.

And veteran defender Tony O'Connor completed the rout on the hour mark, heading home the rebound after Fitzpatrick had parried O'Neill's shot.
