Stay of the grass! - September 5, 2000 Bohemians have called on their fans to stay off the pitch during the UEFA Cup first round game against crack German outfit Kaiserslautern on Monday. The club have felt the wrath of UEFA after their fans ran onto the pitch after the historic ousting on Aberdeen at Tolka Park. UEFA didn't take kindly to the scenes and have fined Bohemians 10,000 Swiss francs (£4,000). Excitement has cost the club dearly and they are hoping for no repeat performance. Bohs secretary Gerry Cuffe said: "This is what happens when you infringe UEFA rules and it's important there is no repeat next week. "There was nothing malicious intended by the people who crossed the fences - they simply wanted to celebrate. "But it means the club lose money and risks heavier fines from UEFA. So we would really appreciate it if they stay in the stands on Monday." |
