Bohs looking to finish job - August 24, 2000 Bohemians look to finish off Aberdeen in Dublin tonight in the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup after beating the Scottish Premier outfit 2-1 at Pittodrie in the first leg - but they might have to do it without influential duo Trevor Molloy and Shaun Maher. Maher is almost certainly out. He has injuries to both his back and knee and is unlikely to recover. Molloy on the other hand, has a chance to play if he gets over a hamstring problem which he suffered in training during the week. Collins has said that Molloy will play in the game but it is not clear whether he will start or be used as a sub. Both players scored in the Pittodrie game and will be badly missed but manager Roddy Collins is still confident that Bohemians can win or at least earn the draw they need to progress. Collins said: "We'll have a crack at Aberdeen right from the start and if we can score early on them they have a mountain to climb. I felt we produced excellent football in last Friday's 5-0 win over Galway and the team is buzzing." Aberdeen manager Ebbe Skovdahl is less confident about his club's chances of progressing. He is hit with a catalogue of injuries. The latest player to be doubtful for the tie is striker Arild Stavrum. Skovdahl said: "We know what we have to do, which is to open up the Bohemians defence and make sure we don't concede any goals and score two. "We know they hold the trump card and that's our fault." |
