Referee's report cites Molloy for punching - September 13, 2000 Charles Algius, the referee who sent Trevor Molloy off during Bohemians UEFA Cup first-round tie with Kaiserslautern on Monday at Tolka Park, has cited the player for punching - leaving everybody involved with Bohemians furious. Algius' report to UEFA states that the reason Molloy was sent off was for punching a German player in the face, a claim that the player and the club deny. Bohs are planning to send a video of the game to Algius in a bid to get him to change his mind. If their bid is successful, Molloy will be available for selection for the second leg of the tie in Germany. If not, he could earn a lengthy European ban. "I'm gutted," said Bohs manager Roddy Collins. "There is no way that he punched the player." |
